The Deeper Impact of art
The music you listen to and the entertainment you consume influences the way you see your life. You can use this for good or bad. All entertainment is about channeling a certain mood through the song or the story, which can have an impact on the way you see your life. This is especially true in our information age where real life experiences aren’t as prevalent as before. If you listen to music that gives you motivation then the more you listen to that song the more you will feel motivation. Just today I listened to the song ‘Experience’ by Ludovico Einaudi and have felt a feeling of motivation and discipline that I haven’t ever before. Even though there are no words, through the song the orchestra communicates in instruments what words cannot.
On the opposite side, listening to or watching negative entertainment will only increase the negative emotions you feel. Much of modern entertainment isn’t art and weakens the soul. Not all good art has to be extremely deep, some of the best art isn’t, but it at least has something valuable to communicate about the nature of life. True art is in some way an expression of the higher values of a society. We are reaching an end point in Western civilization where we have been told that nothing in life has meaning. God the father is treated as if he’s irrelevant. Modern entertainment feels like it has nothing insightful to say if it says anything at all. Personally, I would much rather spend my time with something beautiful and uplifting to the soul.
